Jeanmarie Bay
Licensed Real Estate SalespersonNorth Fork real estate agent Jeanmarie Bay came into the ever-evolving Long Island real estate market by way of the fashion industry where for almost 20 years she negotiated deals for some of the world's biggest brands from her offices in New York City. Logistics, contracts, and planning on a global scale were just part of her day-to-day. After moving from Manhattan to Southold she transitioned into real estate, first with her mother on Shelter Island, and firmly planted her real estate roots with Town & Country Real Estate in 2008.
"I love where I live, it's one of the most beautiful areas," says Jeanmarie of the North Fork where she resides with her family and of Shelter Island where she grew up with her parents and nine siblings. "All the little inlets combined with vineyards and farms - my big passion is sailing. I love the water. There's not a better place for me."
"I'm a boater and love showing off waterfront homes," says Jeanmarie of the homes for sale and for summer rental in her portfolio. When it comes to buyers, Jeanmarie sees mostly second homeowners looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for a more relaxed atmosphere. "It's the beaches, farmstands, vineyards, and restaurants, and the quiet that bring people from Manhattan and Brooklyn to the North Fork."
When she's not sailing Peconic Bay, Jeanmarie, whose many clients come to her as referrals these days, is closing deals and showing homes. "There was one house in the Village of Orient recently that was priced right and sold quickly," she explains. "We put it on the market on a Wednesday and showed it the next day. By Friday we had offers coming in that resulted in a bidding war. The homeowners closed the following Friday. It was the fastest week in real estate!"
Jeanmarie is committed to her community and when not making real estate deals invests her time with the Southold School Garden Committee working closely with students and gardening experts. "I love the whole farm-to-table thing we have going on here and being part of that is kind of cool," she says.
Beyond the garden Jeanmarie is a member of Southold VOICE, a not-for-profit organization of waterfront property owners and others interested in the use, enjoyment, and preservation of Southold Township's extensive waterfront from Laurel to Orient Point. She is also a member of the North Fork Audubon Society.
Why move to the North Fork? Jeanmarie says, "We have it all out here!"
